Watercoolers Europe Social Responsibility Recap

Our social responsibility is water.

Earlier this year, Watercoolers Europe announced a partnership with Just a Drop — a UK-based charity dedicated to bringing clean, safe water to communities across the developing world. Together, we chose to fund the rehabilitation of a borehole in Mumbwa District, Zambia, where broken infrastructure had left 260 people with no choice but to collect water from contaminated rivers shared with livestock – and with elephants.

This October, the rehabilitation will be complete.

260 people in Mumbwa will have year-round access to clean, safe water within their own community. Women and girls who spent hours each day making dangerous journeys to collect water will be able to focus on school and work.

Additionally, a WASH Committee, trained in maintenance and hygiene, will ensure the borehole keeps serving the community for years to come. Just a Drop will be monitoring the project for at least seven years after completion.

We don’t believe our social responsibility one and done. With the completion of the rehabilitated borehole in Mumbwa, our next, bigger project leads to Kapelebyong in Uganda.
