Natural Mineral Waters Europe (NMWE) recently shared this video, asking: “Did you know – that dehydration can impair a child’s ability to concentrate and learn? We often forget that our brain is an organ, and just like any other organ, it needs to be taken care of.”
Hydration plays a critical role in learning and early cognitive development. That’s why, in collaboration with its Spanish association ANEABE – Asociación de Aguas Minerales de España, NMWE invited Dr. Silvia Álava Sordo Ph.D, Doctor in Clinical and Health Psychology, to share her expertise on the importance of hydration for learning.
In the video, Dr. Álava explains how adequate hydration improves the brain’s ability to maintain attention and concentration, and protects memory capacity and thinking speed. She emphasizes the importance of teaching children to drink water frequently, as their thirst mechanism is not fully developed.
