Thorsten Jekel helps people to use technology easily. His farther used to be a top manager at design BRAUN. So he has always been fascinated by good design and simple technology. Thorsten started his professional career at Nixdorf Computer AG in 1988. In his professional stations at well-known companies such as Ingenico, Tchibo and Vitality Foodservice, he developed from sales representative to sole managing director in medium-sized companies. During his time at Tchibo, he completed an Executive MBA at the renowned Henley Business School. Since 2010, supports people and companies in the productive use of new IT technologies. For example, he supported Coca-Cola in the successful introduction of 1,400 iPads in sales, incl. the smart use of AI. During the WE event in Bucharest he will pass over 35 years of professional experience to Conference & Workshops participants.

He also chairs FoodBev Media, which he founded in 2000. Its team publishes four business journals, including “Refreshment”, and manages the foodbev.com website.

I have been in Customer Service for almost 20 years. Since 2008 in the water coolers industry providing technical support and training, I currently hold the role of head of the customer technical service team in Blupura, an Italian manufacturing company of mains-fed water dispensers and one of the major players of the industry. My knowledge of foreign languages has allowed me to have a large experience in the field, meet service teams all around the world and understand the customer’s needs. My mission is to ensure that our products offer consumers the highest standards of quality, safety and hygiene, along with reliable customer service for our partners.

Darren Bamber
Head of Technical, Culligan International

Darren is a seasoned Head of Technical with a rich background spanning the drinking water sector and the oil and gas industry. He excels in managing and delivering top-tier water services, leading technical teams through transformative projects, and ensuring strict regulatory compliance. Darren is adept at deploying cutting-edge technologies to boost water treatment efficiency, streamline operations, and promote sustainable resource management. His strong leadership is characterized by strategic planning, innovative problem-solving, and effective stakeholder collaboration, driving continuous improvement and elevating customer satisfaction.

Stephanie is a Marketing Executive with over 20 years of experience in building and leading multicultural teams of various sizes in the B2B and B2B2C sectors on an international scale. She has expertise across all disciplines of marketing, including strategy, branding, product management, digital marketing, communication, customer experience, and business development. Since joining Elis in 2017, Stephanie has been responsible for product development, catalog management, pricing, and projects related to product data.

Ulrich started his career at SGS-Institut Fresenius central lab in Germany. His work focused on Natural Mineral Water, Bottled Water, Beverages and groundwater for over 34 years. In 2012 he joined NSF International as Global Technical Manager for the beverage certification program. After 7 years he rejoined SGS Institut Fresenius as Product Manager for the Beverage Quality department based in Germany. Dr. Kreuter holds a PhD in Geology and Soil Science from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany. He is a member and advisor of the Technical Committees of several beverage industry associations including ICBWA, NMWE, SANBWA, VDM, WE, GWCA. As a volunteer and Water Source Expert in the Rapid Deployment Unit Water Supply (SEEWA) of the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) he is ready to be deployed on short notice for international disaster relief missions.

Presentation:

The presentation on BPA and PFAs will cover the basics of these chemicals, including their definitions and common uses. We will explore the pathways through which they enter the environment and discuss the current regulatory framework governing their use. Additionally, the workshop will delve into analytical methods for detecting these substances and offer strategies for prevention and mitigation to minimize their impact.

Based in Barcelona, Spain, Alex has extensive experience in food and water systems. Alex serves as writer or co-writer of different audit quality checklists, training materials, technical manuals, sanitation validation protocols for different local and European associations. And has been Vice-Chair of different Standards Committee's for local and European Associations. Currently he is Chair of WE Technical & Standards Committee. Alex holds University degrees in Pharmacy and Food Science & Technology from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and a PDD Executive Education from IESE Business School University of Navarra (Spain). mRPharmS UK from 1998 to 2021. Alex is currently Culligan's Quality Director for EMEA, a role he held at Primo Water Europe-Eden Springs before Culligan acquired the company at the end of 2023. Prior to Primo-Eden, Alex worked for 14 years at Oliver Rodes laboratory in Barcelona, Spain, where he held various positions: Bottled Water and Spas Manager, Quality Manager, Training and Audit Manager, R&D Project Manager, Product Development Director and Member of the Management Committee. Later, he was NSF Technical Director for two years, providing training and auditing services for beverage, water and food and dietary supplement programs.
