March 28, 2012
Dr Ulrich August Kreuter, a member of the Watercoolers Europe Education & Audit Committee, has been appointed NSF Technical Manager. Dr Kreuter will supervise all technical aspects of NSF International's bottled water and beverage certification operations in the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. The position also involves managing all of the testing and certification, auditing and training services.
Aware of the growing demand for beverage and bottled water testing and certification, NSF International has decided to open a new office in Germany that will offer management systems registration (ISO) and certification services for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The new office is strategically placed in Oberursel (Frankfurt), and it is through this office that NSF Germany will offer testing and certification services to companies involved in the beverage, bottled water and packaged ice industries, among others.
Dr Kreuter, the newly designated NSF Technical Manager, is not only a member of Watercoolers Europe Education & Audit Committee, but is also a member of the German Bottled Watercooler Association and the Hydrogeology Section of the German Geological Society.
In addition to his PhD in Natural Science from the Technische Universität Berlin, Dr Kreuter has more than 20 years of technical and regulatory experience working with the bottled water and beverage industries on reseach and development projects and product improvement. He has facilitated training on bottled water regulations, quality and treatment activities, and has also provided consulting services to multiple bottled water and beverage companies throughout EMEA.
Mike Thomas, Chief Executive at NSF-Cmi (an NSF international company, which offers food safety certification, consulting, technical and risk management services across EMEA and Asia) welcomed Dr Kreuter: "Ulrich's beverage and bottled water expertise will enable NSF International to better serve companies in the EMEA region and meet their testing and certification demands for beverage and food safety.”
It seems that Dr Kreuter will focus primarily on beverage and bottled water services, but the new NSF office in Germany will also offer certification and sustainability solutions to the auto, aerospace, metal, chemical, plastics, IT, food, water, environmental and occupational health and safety industries.
Founded in 1944 and now operating in more than 150 countries, NSF International is an independent organization that establishes standards and elaborates tests and certifies products for the food, water, building product and consumer goods industries to minimize adverse health effects and protect the environment.
