NSF International and Laboratorio Dr. Oliver Rodés to Be Partners for Promoting Spanish Water Distribution and Treatment Products Industry

October 30, 2012

NSF International and Laboratorio Dr. Oliver Rodés, prestigious center for water analysis in Spain, have announced an expanded partnership to help Spanish beverage, drinking water and plumbing manufacturers’ access to global export markets. The Laboratory has signed a strategic agreement with NSF International to facilitate export of a wide range of water distribution and treatment products in addition to bottled water products.

NSF International, an independent global organization that writes standards, tests and certifies products for the water, food and consumer goods industries, has expanded its collaboration with Laboratorio Dr. Oliver Rodés (LDOR), which has been Spain’s premier water testing laboratory for more than 110 years. Through this collaboration, LDOR will work with NSF to test and certify Spanish water treatment, distribution and plumbing products to facilitate their export to North America and other key markets.
Through LDOR and NSF International’s joint efforts, Spanish manufacturers now have access to global compliance expertise for water treatment, distribution and plumbing products, as well as continued access to testing and certification services for bottled water. As an NSF partner laboratory, LDOR will promote and support NSF services in both Spain and Portugal.

Certification through NSF International to multiple country-specific regulations streamlines the process of exporting products to multiple markets. The NSF certification process helps manufacturers compete globally by verifying that their products meet the precise requirements of each country. To earn NSF certification, a product must undergo extensive testing to verify it meets the product design, material and performance requirements for each market. NSF also conducts unannounced audits of production facilities to verify that processes are in place to ensure the products being manufactured also meet the same criteria as those tested.

LDOR has been testing and certifying bottled water and beverage products against European Union requirements for chemical, microbiological and radiological contaminants since 2007. This agreement between NSF and LDOR continues to benefit companies throughout Europe, North Africa and the Middle East.

Jordi Oliver-Rodés Sen, Director of LDOR, says "The first agreement signed with NSF International has opened doors for many companies. For LDOR, it is a great recognition for a prestigious institution such as NSF International to put trust in our laboratory. With this second agreement, we expect to help additional companies earn the certifications required to export their products. NSF is a resource for all companies wishing to certify and differentiate their products through excellence and quality.”
Tarik Bellahcene, EMEA Managing Director of NSF International, says “NSF International has worked with companies in Spain and Portugal for more than 25 years, offering multiple certification services in water, food equipment and food safety. Expanding our collaboration with a respected institution such as LDOR in Spain will extend and raise the quality of our services to local manufacturers.”
