IBWA Joins First Lady Michelle Obama to Launch “Drink Up,” a Campaign Encouraging Americans to Drink More Water

IBWA is proud and excited to be a supporter of the "Drink Up" campaign, a collaboration between the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) and PHA Honorary Chair First Lady Michelle Obama to encourage Americans to make an easy choice to help improve their health and well-being every day: drink more water.

On September 12, 2013, in Watertown, Wisconsin, the First Lady, joined by IBWA and other supporters, kicked off the effort that encourages people to drink more water, more often. The campaign is being rolled out in a consumer product fashion, with celebrities actively promoting water as a healthy drink and a coordinated social media push. PHA is asking people across the country to visit www.YouAreWhatYouDrink.org to get more information about the campaign. Anyone can use the logo and everyone is encourage to promote the act of drinking more water by Tweeting about it, Facebooking it, Instagraming it, and just talking about it. The effort can be found across social media properties at @urH2O or via the hashtag #drinkH2O.

IBWA issued a press release announcing its involvement in the effort, and IBWA President and CEO Joe Doss, who attended the Wisconsin event, said, “Safe, refreshing water is one of the best and healthiest choices that nearly everyone can make every day, whether at home, at work, or ‘on the go.’” He also noted, “Bottled water plays an important role in providing people with a healthy hydration beverage.”

The “Drink Up” campaign has already received broad media coverage, including The Washington Post, USA Today, Time.com, the Associated Press, and ABC News. In several cases, IBWA’s support was specifically noted.

IBWA members are encouraged to actively promote this important and highly visible initiative that seeks to inspire more Americans to drink more water more often. As we all know, it is an easy way to stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet.

Look for daytime and late night television personalities to prominently feature water as their on-air beverage of choice and public service announcements promoting the healthy lifestyle benefits of water.
