Highland Spring acquires Braes of Glenlivet bottled water plant
April 16, 2012
It has recently been announced that Highland Spring —the company that offers natural mineral water from the Ochil Hills of Scotland— has acquired a bottled water plant from Moray Council. The plant will be used to bottle the Speyside Glenlivet brand.
The move was of no surprise to the Council, as Highland Spring, which had taken over the lease of the plant three years ago, had already expressed its interest in purchasing the building and surrounding land.
The company paid about £400,000 for the property and the local authority stated that the deal would help secure jobs and the long-term future of the facility at the Braes of Glenlivet.
"The purchase of the facility at Braes of Glenlivet adds to the investment we have recently put into the Speyside Glenlivet brand. It will allow us to make further investment in the property which is essential as we foresee significant increases in production in the next few years" explains Murray Falconer, Highland Spring Group’s Finance Director.
The plant is an existing facility; it was built in 1992 by the former Grampian Regional Council in conjunction with the Crown Estate and now employs approximately a dozen people.
