Dolphin Starts Bottling in Sweden for Scandinavia
December 11, 2012
To expand the 5 Gallon contract bottling business to Scandinavia, Dolphin has taken over Eden Springs’ bottling activities in Porla Brunn Sweden per the 1st of November 2012. With the additional volume in Scandinavia Dolphin is in the top five of largest European bottlers for the Watercooler industry.
The Swedish bottling plant bottles water from the Porla Spring for HOD in Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Geographically between Stockholm, Malmö and Oslo the bottling plant is in the center of Sweden. Managing Director Peter Hogervorst comments; ‘This acquisition will lead to synergy effects between the Dolphin plants in Holland and Scandinavia on quality, purchasing, knowledge and management systems. Contract bottling for other customers in Scandinavia and bottling of the SmartPack consumer pack will expand Porla Brunn’s activities. Next step is to expand our webshop WaterCoolerWeb.eu to Sweden’.
Porla Brunn is located in the center of Sweden and was known as a former wellness resort where people came to rest, to recover and to drink the water to medical prescription. The oldest registrations go back as far as the early 17th century. Wealthy Swedish families have built cottages around the spring in the 19th century and the water was bottled and even delivered to the Swedish Royal Family. The Porla Brunn brand was very famous until the last glass bottle was filled in the year 2000. The production was stopped because the owner (Carlsberg) decided to move the production to one of their breweries. The original Village from 1860 was expanded with production facilities and warehouses in 1986 and 5 Gallon bottling equipment was installed in 2001.
