Canaletas shows one of its fountains at the first Mineral Water Museum in Japan
May 23, 2012
Tokyo’s Mineral Water Museum gathers together fountains and mineral water-related elements from more than 30 countries all over the world. The design and aesthetics of Canaletas’ fountain design have been the key reasons for its selection as part of the exhibition.
Canaletas can be found at Tokyo’s Mineral Water Museum, the first museum in Japan devoted to water. The Barcelona water fountain producer’s ‘Serie 7 M-77’ design is forming part of the display. The model, which is made from stainless steel, is well known for its elegant design and durability.
“After the terrible earthquake last year, Japanese society is now concerned about the influence of water on our survival”, explains Jun Mayada, who is responsible for Tokyo’s Mineral Water Museum. “It is fundamental for us to have the appropriate tools to be able to educate and raise awareness in society - and in children in particular - about this cause.”
The museum, which is already open to the public and which covers an area of almost 1000 square meters, is the first in the whole of Japan to be dedicated to water. Within this space, Mineral Water Museum will exhibit fountains and items related to mineral water from 30 countries all over the world.
“We wanted to have a Canaletas fountain due to its unique design and its aesthetics”, says Mayada, when asked why they chose a Canaletas fountain to represent the Spanish market in the section of the museum, which is specifically dedicated to fountains.
“It is very important for Canaletas to be present at all kind of forums, events and institutions where the spotlight falls on the importance of water,” points out Jordi Morera, Canaletas Managing Director. “We believe that raising people’s awareness about the influence of water on our survival is a basic duty, and we feel particularly proud to be a part of a global project such as the Mineral Water Museum. In this respect, we have to remember that 30% of Canaletas’ turnover comes from markets abroad.”
Founded in 1965, Canaletas is a family company, which focuses its activity on designing and producing all kind of fountains and water coolers. The company is the most experienced in Europe in terms of fountain production and distributes its products to different regions of the continent.
