AFIFAE Board Meeting
June 24, 2015
The Board of AFIFAE (l’Association Franϛaise de l’industrie des fontaines à eau) met in Paris on Wednesday 10th June 2015. The Director General was invited to do a presentation on his vision / roadmap of WE for 2015-2016. Gustav Felix also made a presentation of the industry developments in Europe and France for the period starting from 2008 with the expected figures to 2018. The AFIFAE Chairman Francois Gilleron informed the participants about the Execo and AGM meetings which took place in Dusseldorf on 29-30 April 2015 and on his election as new member of WE Executive Council. The Board welcomed all this news.
Topics discussed were:
- A draft French regulation on energy transition, currently being discussed by the Senate, which contains a request for the ban of plastic cups from 2020. AFIFAE had been in contact with other affected associations and groups to fight this, which if passed by the Senate would have an affect across Europe.
- The Board adopted the revised WE Code of Good Hygiene Practice. This led to a discussion regarding evaluation of HPC levels - although water dispensed from watercoolers is regulated by Food Regulation (EU) 178/2002 and Food Hygiene Regulation (EU) 852/2004, difficulties were still be experienced with food controllers evaluating HPC of water from watercoolers against the Drinking Water Regulation (EU) 98/83.
- Gustav Felix, stressed the importance of controlling water dispensed from watercoolers in accordance with the Food Regulation (EU) 178/2002 and the Food Hygiene Regulation (EU) 852/2004 and not based on the Drinking Water Regulation (EU) 98/83. A slide presentation on this issue was made available to the participants.
- Hydration remained an important subject. A study about the French and their water consumption habits at work was discussed. This study has been sent to journalists and is available on http://www.afifae.fr/index.php/actualite/2011-09-28-13-56-14.html
- Gustav Felix, WE Director General gave a presentation on the WE vision for 2015-16 and industry developments in Europe and expected figures to 2018.
As part of the support of WE activities the Board agreed to hold their next meeting during WE event in Roma, on Thu Sept 24th in the morning.
